Replica sculpture Vitruvian man by Leonardo da Vinci
♥ This sculpture shows the Vitruvian Man (1490) by Leonardo da Vinci. It draws the ideal proportions of the human body. The name reminds of the Roman architect Vitruvius and his books "Ten Books on Architecture". In these books Vitruvius presents, among other things, the theory of the well-formed human being (lat. homo bene figuratus) with an ideal relationship of the body parts to each other. The study shows how much Leonardo was interested in physique and proportions.
