Antique table lamp Jean Marais

♥ Here you will find our historically classic Jean Marais lamp from our Museum and Lamps category for our Art Nouveau lovers. It is signed by Jean Marais and bears the inscription “histoire de ma vie”. The drawing is a self-portrait with a mask as an allegory of his life as a theater and cinema man.

Jean Marais was born in Cherbourg in 1913 and died in Cannes in 1998. He was an actor, director, writer, painter, sculptor and potter in Vallauris on the Côte d'Azur, where he opened an art gallery in the 1970s.
