Gerhard Mercator was a geographer and cartographer who was considered the Ptolemy of his time and was famous until the Arab-Islamic world.
Our Globus "Navigator's Terrestrial Globe" shows a mapping from the time of the 16th Century. The base shows a kite on which the globe is mounted. The card is printed well and offers an exceptionally beautiful reproduction of the map of Gerhard
Mercator. He was a geographer and cartographer who was considered the
Ptolemy of his time and was famous until the Arab-Islamic world.
The globe is a replication of the maps originally produced in a complicated gravure printing process which offers a distinctive edge to the lines, words and symbols. The globe itself is like the old originals from papier-mâché made.
